The purpose of the Firefighters Kids Camp is to provide children who have had serious burn injuries the opportunity to continue their rehabilitation and recovery process in an outdoor environment where they can have FUN and feel SAFE!

We respect individuality and differences of opinion.

The Firefighters Kids Camp makes a lasting impact on the lives of the burn injured children by helping  them to foster a positive outlook towards their future and their burn rehabilitation. Activities include rafting, swimming, boating, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, astronomy, arts and crafts, campfire songs, games and more! The camp staff, activities and support programs have all been selected to meet the special needs of the young burn survivors while still allowing the kids to enjoy a traditional summer camp setting.

Dozens of selfless individuals  who give generously of their time and talents staff this special camp. The camps' counselors, nurses, activity directors, cooks, and drivers are all volunteers. These dedicated individuals donate over 10,000 volunteer hours of their personal time each year in fundraising, planning and running the Firefighters Kids Camp. Over $60,000 must be raised to cover camp expenses each year - and Northern California Fire Departments conduct fund raisers throughout the year to pay for camp expenses. Firefighters make-up the majority of the camp staff.

Our Vision:

A Camp Environment That Is Healthy and Safe: The health and safety of our campers is our top priority! Decisions regarding facility selection, program opportunities and staff selection are all made with the health and safety of our campers placed first and foremost. Camp operations are consistent with American Camping Association standards for this reason.

A Camp Environment Where Kids Can Be Kids:We strive to provide our campers an environment that allows them to interact with others who have had common experiences and challenges so that they can better realize that they are not alone in their injuries. Through peer interaction and role modeling, they can better gain the confidence necessary to make the transition from being a victim of a tragic incident to becoming a survivor!

A Camp Environment Full Of Encouragement: We believe in providing a camp environment that empowers our campers to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. We believe in promoting positive attitudes and fostering peer support, providing an opportunity for our campers to learn that they are capable of anything and everything they want to try.

Our Values:

We value positive attitudes and peer support.

We value trust and respect.

We value learning opportunities.

We value teambuilding and personal empowerment.

We strive to empathize and understand.

We expect personal accountability and responsibility.
